A Walk At The Wetland

This morning, we went for a walk at the wetland.

The wetland is a block away from us, so it is nice f0r us to take a walk there now and then. When we first moved here, it was almost a daily outing, now, with so much going on, we don't often go there.

We always take the short route around the wetland - with little people, a long walk is terrible. Usually they start complaining they are tired, or thirsty, or hungry, or just moan, so we have found that cutting our walk by half, is best!

Once, my dad and I took a walk there when it had finished raining, or so we thought! We took our time, but half way, the rain clouds were forming again!! We hurried, but needless to say, it started to rain before we reached home- not just a light drizzle, but a huge rainstorm!! We got very wet and cold!!!

Today was a little rainy, with a few light showers, but when we set out on our walk, it was clear!

We needed to shake out the cobwebs, as it was raining yesterday, so little people (and big people!) needed some fresh air! We were like the three bears, except we were 6 people, taking a walk straight before lunch (instead of breakfast) waiting for our food to cool! Fortunately, Goldilocks didn't come, we locked our house up well!

As I said, before lunch we traipsed out, Beth on Rosy, her beloved hobby horse which mom made for her fourth birthday; Gabrielle on her shop-bought hobby pony, Pink Lady; Nancy on her bicycle; Mom pushing Rebekah in the pram; and me with the camera - it goes everywhere with me!!

We (Mom and I) wanted to tire the others out, so that they would sleep this afternoon.....It worked, they were soooo tired at the end of the walk!

The lone rider....Gabrielle

Have a wonderful day further!

Daring Cardmakers - 'Tweetie Pie'

The other day my mom was surfing the web for patterns for felt food she is making Gabrielle for her third birthday. She saw a card making blog on the list of search results, and decided to look at it. It was much like 'Friday Sketchers Challenge', that I have participated in before. It is called Daring Cardmakers.

My mom showed it to me the next morning, and I decided to try it out. I had so much fun, that I have decided to participate in this card making challenge each week instead of 'Friday Sketchers'.

I will sometimes do a Friday Sketchers, when I have extra card making time, but most of the time I will do this one.

Every week, Daring Cardmakers posts a challenge, for instance, they once had a challenge where they told you had to use something from your kitchen on your card, the one 'Design Team' lady used a real teabag in a teacup she had made out of card stock.

You are free to design absolutely any card, the only condition being that you incorporate that one criteria. I love to see how others have interpreted the criteria in such different and unique ways.

This week's challenge was 'Tweetie Pie', so your card had to have a bird somewhere on it.

Here is my card using birds:

It is an anniversary card.

I found the bird template off Stampin Inspirations, a lovely card-making blog. I glittered the birdie's wing.

I used three little hearts that I bought from the craft shop at Canal Walk.

I tied raffia around the card and tied a bow. I then printed out a label that says 'Happy Anniversary'

I used an eyelet for the birdies eyes.

My mom then drew little legs on the two birds.

And that is my card.

I enjoyed making this card so much! Daring Cardmakers is great fun!

Have a good week!

Another Wonderful Week #6

I can't say this week was the best! I seemed to feel terribly tired! I didn't think we had done much this week, but when I looked at all the photos, I realized that, Wow!, No wonder we are so tired!

Here is our week in pictures!

Gabrielle looking at library books

Nancy built a pram out of building material from Smile. The Front with Rebekah's teddy.

The back - lucky teddy!

Beth playing games

Rebekah cuddling the baba. Rebekah is becoming so big, and already she wants to this space, it won't be long!

It was Granny's birthday

Nancy doing her Maths-U-See.......don't worry, I also do my maths, but I can never take a picture of myself!!

We did an 'earthworm practical'. We are doing a lapbook on earthworms (eugh), so we needed to really see what we were learning about. Nancy and Beth looking for earthworm cocoons. Same thing here - I also do it, but when I am not doing the photography!

My sisters played at the stream at my riding stables

Gabrielle making faces!

Making a 'handprint apron'.....share more about it soon!

Wordless Wednesday

Nancy, Beth and Gabrielle made fabric-painted pillows. Unfortunately, I was at horse riding when they painted them. Gabrielle pinning her pillow pieces together.

Nancy sewing her pillow. Nancy now has Monday nights to sew. She loves to sew and we are waiting for some big projects!

Mommy helping Beth sew.

Even Gabrielle helped sew her pillow together!

Stuffing it;

Nancy, Beth and Gabrielle with their cute pillows! Well done to them all!

And that is just about all the pictures for our week !

Hope you had a great week!

Another Wonderful Week #5

Sorry, a little late!

Another wonderful week has passed us by! Fortunately not as busy as the last, but busy enough to make sure we were never bored!

A birdy came to visit our pine cone bird-feeder. I will do a post soon on how to make one.

I made yummy tomato, olive and basil pesto tarts with rosemary out our garden!

Our guinea pigs grazed. Dear Candy, the mother of our three baby guinea pigs!

They love having a good run!

Nancy holding her new-found favorite guinea pig, George.

We built an earthwom farm for my granny's birthday present. She lives in the Bain's Kloof mountains, and still manages to grow vegetables, so we thought an earthworm farm would help her! I will also do a post soon on how to make an earthworm farm!

My dad built a lid for the guinea pig hutch he built (on the left).

We moved bedrooms (again!): Beth and I welcomed Gabrielle into our room. Nancy and Rebekah now share a room. I have my work cut out for me, with two naughty girls in my room. Gabrielle got hold of the things in my cupboard yesterday - understand what I mean about having my work cut out? I don't mind, though! We are going to have fun!

Beth and Gabrielle's double bunk

My bed and the bean-bag Nancy can come and sit on when she is bored of being a bookworm!

My mom redid her craft and sewing room on the weekend. She cannot wait to go and create in there now!

And that is just about all that we have been up to this week! We hope yours was just as good as ours!
