A Friendship Card

Hello everyone, sorry I have been so quite!  We had a small scare with our computer.  Fortunately friend's of ours managed to fix it (we thought it had crashed)!

I want to show you a card I made for a friend of mine:

I stuck a few pink seed beads on the flowers of the patterned paper.  I think it adds a nice 'touch' to the card.

I just LOVE these flowers!  I use them on most of my cards!

I used the Whiff Of Joy stamp called 'Willow With Chocolate Heart'.

The pink corner finishes off the card very nicely!

I also entered the following challenges:

I hope you all had a good Christmas!

An Afternoon At The Knysna Heads

Yesterday morning we had to go to Knysna to do some shopping (we live about 40 minutes outside of Knysna itself).  After visiting the shops, we went to the Knysna Heads.  We first stopped at Coney Beach picnic site and had lunch.  My dad took these pictures of my sisters and I together.  He used one as his computer screen saver picture!

The Gray Girls - from left to right: Rebekah 1 years, me (Kelly) 13 years, Beth 6 years, Nancy 11 years and Gabrielle 3 years.

Smiles all around!

Gabrielle age 3 – such a cutie!

We then went down to the Heads to gather shells.  My mom is doing a craft project with us and needs shells – lots of them!  I will tell you more about it in a separate posting.

View of the Knysna Heads from Coney Beach.

My dad again was the photographer and again he took some gorgeous photographs!

Beth age 6 found so many starfish and ran up and down shouting: “see what I’ve found!”  Needless to say we caused quite a stir on the beach front!

Nancy age 11 trying not to get her dress wet, but at the same time wanting to jump into the water and swim!

Have a wonderful week further!

The Sunday Tradition - Pancakes

When my dad was still working in Cape Town, my mom came up with the idea of us having pancakes on a Sunday evening.

We started one Sunday after my dad had left for the week’s work in Cape Town.  My sisters and I were feeling extremely sad.  My mom then said, “Let’s have pancakes and invite Aunty Michelle round to join us!”

And so our pancake evenings started and has remained to this day!  In the afternoon we have a big lunch and in the evening we have pancakes!!  We always sms Aunty Michelle saying, “Pancakes?  Sit down or take away?”  Almost every week, going on for three or four months now, we have had our traditional pancake evening with Aunty Michelle!

We look forward to it all week long.  Gabrielle is especially fond of the savoury filling that Aunty Michelle brings.  Sometimes it is a bolognaise sauce, other times a mushroom and spinach!!!

Here is our pancake recipe – tried and tested is not the word!

GRAY’S PANCAKES

400ml cake flour
3 eggs
250ml milk
250ml water
25ml oil
Pinch salt

Place eggs, milk, water and oil in a bowl and blend.  Add flour and salt and blend again.  Pour into a jug and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.

The stack of pancakes!!  It takes my mom and I about 40 minutes to fry all of these up!

Nancy age 11 enjoying her savoury pancake before starting on the sweet: honey, lemon and cinnamon!

Beth age 6 getting stuck into her savoury!

Gabrielle age 3 obviously doesn’t know what knives and forks are...

Rebekah age 1 could teach her something!

After coffee, Beth and Gabrielle walk Aunty Michelle home down to her farm – we are neighbours so the walk is quick, taking only 2 minutes or so!!  Aunty Michelle always brings Sadie, her dog – Rebekah and Sadie are best buddies!!

We only have two more weeks to till we move to Bethany Farm!  We are very excited but at the same time also sad.  We will miss Aunty Michelle and pancake night very much!

Blessings,
Kelly-Anne
