The Bible says that to everything there is a season...
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
There are a great many seasons in a woman’s life –
A season to enjoy a carefree childhood of running up slopes with loose hair shimmering in the sunlight...
A season to notice changes in both body and mind as girlhood approaches...
A season to embrace home and learning how to properly run a household under the guidance of a mother...
A season to wait contentedly and faithfully upon the Lord in singleness..
A season to experience love, courtship and, Lord willing, marriage...
A season to welcome children, and a season to raise and govern them in love and truth...
A season to grow older and wiser and delight in the silvery grey hairs of a good life and the joys of grandparenthood...
...And a glorious season of Eternity with the Lord and King where there is no pain or suffering...
These seasons in our fragile lives constantly alter
and change. They pass over so swiftly
and have a tendency to end abruptly, often without us even realizing it.
Too often when we experience a change in the course of
our daily lives, we look back at the old life and perhaps feel a pang of regret
or sadness that we never fully and utterly embraced and enjoyed both the
sorrows and the joys in each of those
days...
Whatever season(s) you may find yourself in – you may
have just graduated from home school and now you’re a stay-at-home daughter or
perhaps you are just entering the sweetness of courtship, or expecting your
first baby... Maybe you’re a mother with
many little children around your ankles and a sink of dishes stacked up to the
ceiling...
...Might I encourage you to embrace this season that you
find yourself in right now?
How can we ever determine how long or short these
days, weeks, months or years will be? In
truth, we cannot, and how sorrowful we shall be when there is no longer a
chubby brother or sister to cuddle or a tired husband to serve a warm meal
to...
By no means am I denying that there are trials that tire
and weary the soul and that long years of singleness or barrenness are hard to
face with a contented and happy heart.
But I am asking you, whatever your situation may be,
to slow down and enjoy this season
for what it is...
Look around, stop
and smile at the blessings in your life instead of the curses – don’t live for
the chapter to come... It too will pass,
just like this one will and the one before it did...
If you spend
your whole life waiting for the storm, you’ll never enjoy the sunshine. ~ Morris West

I've traveled many seasons, including infertility, yet we used those years to strengthen our marriage. This year I head into the season of the empty nest. I'm asking God to help me thrive and find a different joy. Thank you for the encouragement found in your words.
Joyfully,
Pamela
Dear Pamela,
Thank you so much for your visit. I was greatly encouraged by your testimony--right now my dear mother is experiencing a season of infertility...
It is so easy for to yearn for another sibling, but then I have to remember the ones I do have and how short the time is that I have with them.
I pray our Savoir will strengthen you in this season of your life.
Blessings in Christ,
Kelly

What a lovely post Kelly-Anne! I've lately been studying on this subject as I finish up studying the book "Before You Meet Prince Charming" with some of my Bible study girls. It's truly wonderful to have Jesus as our delight, and He only can fulfill! Thank you for sharing!!
Dear Amber,
Thank you for your sweet comment...I agree - how wonderful it is indeed to have Jesus in our lives! I don't know what I would do without Him and His perfect love! And I think I need to add that book you mentioned to my bookshelf...
