Lace Loveliness & Joy in Doing What You Love…

The other day I was given a bag of lovely crafty goodies that belonged to an older lady who passed away a couple of years ago…  Her husband recently had cleared out her creative corner, and passed his late wife’s supplies on to another lady who then thought of me…

It was quite sad to look at each item and think of the sweet lady who treasured them and loved adding new lace, fabric, books and wool to her collection of crafty goodies…

Such  gorgeous lace…

This broad lace looks as if it belongs on an elegant bridal gown...

My favourite...delicate pink lace...

I love this borad cream coloured lace...such a beautiful design...

This white is so pretty with the light pink edging!

Soft blue lace...

One doesn’t see lace such as this all that often…at least not where I live…

~
It is such a joy to have a hobby…to have collections of goodies you can turn into beautiful creations and bless others with…

These are just a few of the cards I made yesterday afternoon with my beautiful new lace…

Vintage butterflies...

Red and cream...

I am blessed in that my hobby turned into a business last July, and I am able to use beautiful fabrics, pretty buttons and lovely lace almost everyday…

But sometimes it is delightful to spend a little time creating something for yourself…trying a wonderful new pattern or sorting buttons, lace and fabric scraps.

I believe we should all do something we love to do…perhaps it is calligraphy…music…painting…cooking…  Maybe like me it is a few things such as quilting, knitting or gardening…

It is lovely dreaming something up, and then creating it with your hands and your heart, pouring love into every detail…there is something uniquely satisfying in this process…

What are a few of your hobbies…?

~ Saturday blessings, dearest readers ~

My dearest Kelly-Anne....my hobbies are all related to the needle arts. I sew garments for myself and my daughter. I have made shirts for my husband and sons, but that is not often. I spin yarn that comes from the sheep farms here in the mountains, which I then knit into hats, scarves and shawls. I am in the process of making a shawl for a costume that I'll be wearing to the upcoming Heritage Festival here in the North. There is always such joy to make something with our hands and share it with others by giving it away.

Thank you so much for sharing our talents with me today...

I love lace! I have a few bags. I used to do a lot of crafts and used lace but haven't done so in quite awhile. I hope to do that this winter. Lace is so delicate and intricate and lovely. Your cards are just beautiful! Have a creative week! Hugs!!

I love lace and always pick up bits and pieces of it here and there! The cards you made are so pretty and I am sure the lady who collected all that lace would be proud to know that someone used it in such a lovely way.

Hi Kelly-Anne!

Your newly acquired lace is so pretty!

There are some really interesting research studies which have shown that hobbies can lead to flow experiences (e.g., the state of being "in the zone" when you're crafting, etc.) which enhances our happiness levels. So it's definitely good to engage in some fun hobbies. Mine is tea! Hee!

Have a good week!

What pretty lace! It's neat that even though the lady who owned it wasn't able to use it all that it has now come into the possession of someone who is enjoying it so much. :) Your cards are amazing! :D I like the use of lace.
Well, I enjoyed drawing throughout my childhood/teenhood but lately have discovered that I enjoy watercolor painting. :) I also of course enjoy photography!

Hello Kelly-Anne,
How lovely to have received such a treasure trove, although the reason is sad. Lace is such a feminine decoration ~ I don't think we have enough of it on our day to day clothing nowadays.Of course, it evokes Victorian times very much, but even in the seventies and eighties(well, I remember them!)it was in fashion for girls to wear tiered skirts with a lace petticoat just peeping out...very pretty.

Your cards are amazing! Clever you ~I especially love the blue butterflies, but that's no surprise ;)
I have made blue stained glass butterflies before now, to hang in the window...as you know, that is my hobby, but everything is put away for now because of our move : )

So glad it is Spring for you now. Blossom time!
Sending a hug!

You have made some lovely cards Kelly-Ann. I can see how your hobby has turned into a business. I am so happy for you and I am sure your sweet neighbor would be very happy to see what you have made.

Oh what a treasured gift to receive! I know you will do amazing justice to the treasures gifted to you... your hands are dripping with talent! I have stamped cards as a past hobby, and scrapbooked, and just looking at the two amazing cards you created - wow, you have a special touch!

Many years ago, a dear friend who went blind and couldn't craft any longer, gifted me with most of her hobby supply. It was such an incredible gift to me, and I made so many wonderful things such as covered photo albums, cross stitched pillows, and handmade dolls with the supplies she gave me. It was such a blessing at the time. I know the Lord has blessed you too with this gift. The blessings of the Lord never cease to amaze me, and the dear lady who passed on would be thrilled to know they were being put to good use, I'm sure!

May the Lord continue to bless you in all you do! :)

Your cards are beautiful Kelly-Anne. I enjoy sewing, especially refurbishing something like a curtain into a tote bag. Love to play with paper as well, and can't leave out photography and making digital graphics. ~ Abby
